Keep in mind that Shoulda Beens is a “curated” musical resource — in other words, we have to really like the band/artist and their music before we feature them.  We hate being the guys who have to say “no” to nice people, but — if the artist submitted isn’t what we’re looking for — sometimes that’s what we have to do,

Couple more points:

 

1.)  If the band or artist is under any kind of contractual obligation to a third party who acts as an intermediary between the artist and us — or if a third party has any kind of full or partial ownership of the band’s creative output — we can't move forward.  Our featured artists have 100% ownership and control of their content, are entitled to speak on behalf of their band, and are legally entitled to sell their creative output through any mechanism they choose.

 

2.)  We don’t require that the artists themselves start the Shoulda Beens ball rolling — but if you’re a fan or a family member driving the process, the artists have to know what you’re doing, and be okay with it -- or at least know who you are when we say "so-and-so suggested we contact you..."
